• Buying a rebuilt one is a good option and it will be like-new, but it is almost as costly as a new one. It will be at the factory specifications.
• Rebuilding the one already in your car is often the best option, and is in the middle of the options as far as price. Only the parts that need replacing are replaced and is the least disruptive for your car.

Signs of a Bad Transmission

Transmissions do not often go bad suddenly. There are usually warning signs. Feeling the transmission slip as it shifts, or feeling the car jerk when it shifts are signs something is wrong with the transmission. Fluid leaks are another sign something is going on, so pay attention to what goes on under your vehicle. Often the reverse is the first gear to go out, so if your vehicle suddenly will not go backward, that is a sign you are going to need a new transmission sooner than later.
