Differential & Maintenance Explained

The differential has two primary functions: delivering drive power to the wheels while adjusting for variable wheel spin when cornering. The front and rear differentials are positioned on the front and rear axles. Differentials have internal gears and lubricating oil that require maintenance. The differential needs an inspection at service intervals, and the lubricating oil has routine fluid flushes detailed in the owner’s manual. All-wheel-drive and 4x4 models have both front and rear differentials requiring maintenance. Most Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and RAM vehicles need differential service every 30,000 to 60,000 miles.

Differential Service Overview

Differential service includes both the front and rear differentials. We begin the service inside our Mopar certified service department staffed with certified technicians with extensive direct experience providing differential maintenance for vehicles just like yours. The differential fluid is removed and the differential components inspected. If the differential looks good with no other maintenance needed, we install fresh manufacturer-authorized OEM differential fluid with a friction modifier that improves performance. Your service will conclude with a complimentary multi-point inspection.
