The alarm clock hits 6 am and the sounds of the classic Sonny & Cher song “I Got You Babe” wake you up. You realize that you’re in the same place you were 27 years ago: a B&B in Punxsutawney PA and cringe that you’re repeating the same day again.
That was the experience news anchor Phil Connors, being played once again by the one-and-only Bill Murray, had during the Jeep 2020 Big Game commercial. He even runs into his old friend Ned Ryerson (played once again by Stephen Tobolowsky) and Punxsutawney’s own Buster Green (played once again by Brian Doyle Murray).
But there was one key change to his Groundhog Day: the 2020 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon is now the getaway vehicle for Phil Connors as he kidnaps Punxsutawney Phil, America’s beloved groundhog.

The Big Game ad was filmed at many of the same locations as the Groundhog Day movie in Woodstock, Illinois. Believe it or not, this is actually the first commercial that Bill Murray has ever starred in and it will be his last, according to a quote from the actor.
Did you know that:
- The Big Game has only been played on Groundhog Day 2 times in 54 years?
- The all-new Jeep e-Bike powered by QuietKat, set to debut in June, was featured in the commercial?
- Gear inspired by the ad is available here?
- The Jeep Gladiator pickup truck is in stock here at Route 18 Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram?
