We will be teaming up with Mid-Atlantic based club Lost Off-Road to run the Rt. 18 Truck & Jeep Show on Sunday June 2nd from 10 am to 2 pm at the American Legion located at 4 JFK Drive in Milltown NJ!
At this event, we will be giving out several trophies for vehicles in a variety of classes, styles & categories. The cost to enter is $10 and all proceeds from the show will benefit Unbroken Warriors, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2016 in Holmdel NJ by a combat veteran afflicted with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Unbroken Warriors dedicates themselves to provide veterans who are suffering from PTSD the means to get effective treatment through various therapeutic techniques. Their goal is to have all American war vets be able to manage their PTSD symptoms & regain control of their lives.
We have previously shown support for Unbroken Warriors by being at the finish line after Navy veteran, Holmdel police officer & organization founder Michael Dowens & his service dog Emery walked over 200 miles from Washington DC over 3 straight days and arrived at the East Brunswick Memorial VFW Post 133 to a glorious homecoming on June 3, 2017.
Besides us, more than 100 people rushed to Cranbury Street when the police and Dowens’s wife & son joined him for the last leg of the trip. Michael Dowens decided to take this walk because he had PTSD after his tours in Iraq, Liberia & Somalia ending in 2006 and wants other veterans who are suffering from this mental health issue to get access to the treatment they need.
Dowens suffered from PTSD for 10 years before receiving treatment and we hope other veterans in need don’t take that long to seek the help they need. If you can’t attend the show and want to still help the cause, you can donate to Unbroken Warriors online.
