The 2019 Dodge Challenger is just the latest incarnation of Central New Jersey’s favorite muscle car that gives you even more in terms of performance. There are 4 different high-octane engine options to choose from:
- 3.6L Pentastar V6: 305 hp & 268 lb/ft of torque
- 5.7L HEMI V8: 375 hp & 410 lb/ft of torque
- 392-cubic-inch HEMI V8: 485 hp & 475 lb/ft of torque
- 6.2L HEMI V8: 717 hp & 656 lb/ft of torque, an increase from last year
The 3.6L Pentastar V6 paired with 8-speed automatic transmission is offered in the SXT & GT trims that can be configured with either RWD or AWD, while the 5.7L HEMI V8 comes in the R/T model. Upgrading to the R/T Scat Pack trim gets you the 392-cubic-inch HEMI V8, while the 6.2L HEMI V8 is exclusive to the SRT Hellcat models. All V8s can be configured with 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic transmission.

We’re so proud that the 2019 Dodge Challenger topped the J.D. Power U.S. Initial Quality Study in the Midsize Sporty Car segment. That’s because the Challenger had the least amount of problems experienced per 100 vehicles over the first 90 days of ownership compared to other models in its class based on 76,256 purchasers & lessees of new 2019-model-year vehicles responding to a study comprised of 233 questions in 8 categories.

2. Southwest Lifestyle Car of the Year
The all-new 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye, which uses a high-output version of the 6.2L HEMI V8 that delivers 797 hp and 707 lb/ft of torque, won the inaugural Southwest Lifestyle Car of the Year in the Performance/Luxury category. 3-5. 2019 Texas Auto Roundup
The last 3 awards are all grouped around the same event: the 2019 Texas Auto Roundup. The Dodge Challenger took home the Car of Texas, Performance Car of Texas & Performance Coupe of Texas honors given by the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA). TAWA President Michael Marrs spoke highly about the Challenger’s classic muscular lines & monumental power.
Besides Marrs, there were 43 other TAWA journalists in attendance who test drove 29 vehicles on local surface roads and an autocross course designed by the Sports Car Club of America to compare each model side by side. Yee-haw!
