Dodge AutoStick Transmission

A driver interactive feature, AutoStick provides the driver with manual shift control of your automatic transmission. Is your new Dodge equipped with AutoStick transmission? If you recently purchased or are considering purchasing a vehicle with the autoshift feature, watch our video and see how you can maximize your Dodge's performance using AutoStick.

The AutoStick automatic transmission feature provides the driver with additional control of the vehicle. The AutoStick features allows you to maximize engine braking, while allowing you to eliminate annoying up-shifts and down-shifts - improving your vehicles overall performance. If you need more control while passing, city driving, slippery road conditions or even while towing, the AutoStick transmission feature will provide you with the confidence you need.

When the shift lever is in the DRIVE position, your transmission shifts automatically, shifting between the six available gears. To engage AutoStick, move the shift lever to the left while still in the DRIVE position. When the AutoStick transmission is activated, an indicator will be displayed on your instrument cluster showing the current transmission gear.

Dodge AutoStick Automatic Transmission

While in AutoStick mode, the transmission of your Dodge will shift up or down when plus (+) or minus (-) are manually selected using the shift lever - unless an engine lugging or overspeed condition would result. Your AutoStick automatic transmission will remain in the same gear until the driver chooses another gear.

Keep This In Mind: The transmission will automatically upshift when necessary to prevent engine overspeed. And heavily pressing the accelerator pedal will generate an automatic downshift for improved acceleration when reasonable.

For example, when coming to a stop, your AutoStick transmission will automatically downshift to first gear. After your Dodge comes to a stop, the driver should manually upshift as the vehicle is accelerating. Drivers have the choice of starting off from a stop in first or second gear using the AutoStick mode.

To start off in second gear, tap the shift lever up and you will feel the added traction- perfect for adverse road conditions. To disengage your Dodge from AutoStick transmission mode, simply move the shift lever to the right - back in the DRIVE position.
